Nomads dominated the early exchanges, but failed to turn pressure into goals – until Martin Hamon emphatically dispatched from the right of the D following good work, and a saved shot, from his striking partner, Rich Lloyd. But the second goal Nomads craved, and probably deserved, failed to materialize, and sure-enough they rued the missed chances when Bury dispatched after a short corner.
The game became more stretched in the second half, and there were passages of lovely hockey, intertwined with some ‘rugged’ defending from the midfield enforcer, Ali Cotton. When the second goal arrived – it was a beauty. Alex worked some majic down the right, before delivering at pace into the D where Rich Lloyd deflected into the roof of the net, giving the keeper no chance.
The third came from man-of-the-match, Martin’s, neat finish following a hopeful shot from Rick at the top of the D. Bury pulled one back from another short corner, carelessly given away by the “enforcer’s” vague knowledge of the rules (post 2005), and bar a couple of worrying moments caused by enforced absences, Nomads defence held firm to collect all 3 points.
