After a long drive all the way to Long Sutton, Nomads had an excellent first 25 minutes as they came out fighting. Some great connective passing and attacking moves shook the opposition and was commented on by the opposition’s coach.
The ball went end to end with Nomads dominating for large parts of the first half however Nomads were unable to find the goal. Long Sutton had a couple of chances and did well to capitalise on those opportunities….one of which was at a short corner with only 3 Nomads defence behind the line as 2 had been sent back to the half way line (reaction speeds clearly far faster than Usain Bolt;-)!. We were unlucky to be down 2-0 at half time.
Long Sutton put the defence and our guest goalie under pressure with some fast breaks and also converted their opportunities in the 2nd half. Finally Nomads found the net from a short corner strike from Flip Toley. The final score was 5-1 to Long Sutton. Despite the score line, there was some good passing and quality play from Nomads, something the team will build upon in the coming weeks.
Player of the match went to Liz Freeman for her performance in the central midfield and we thank our guest GK Gemma May who stepped in to help at very short notice whilst visiting from Glasgow for the weekend!
