Traffic issues on route meant time was tight for the ladies to be ready to play. Following a frantic warm up the girls were set and ready to go on the whistle.
As Nomads tried to find their feet, Wisbech immediately applied the pressure from the off. However the defence of Linsey, Lou, Rach and Zoe held strong, calmly absorbing repeated attacks by the home side. Then the Nomads found their form with some great supporting play by the backs and midfield allowing some lovely linking passes. Strong runs by wingers Annie and Laura meant that the tables were soon turned and it was the visitors applying the pressure but the Wisbech defence proved equal. Opportunities came in the form of 2 short corners for Nomads but in the end it was Wisbech who put the 1st mark on the score board. A miss hit from defence found a Wisbech stick and with 2 attackers against Nomads goalie Jenny they made sure of the goal by deflecting it in to the corner.
Half time came and the girls rallied, pushing forward as a unit led by Liz and Kate in the middle and Flip and Ellie at the front. This pressure was eventually awarded as a ball was deflected in by Charlotte, who was only called up from the 2nd team that morning after 2 of the 1st team called off sick. Despite further chances at either end the game finished all even at 1-1.
Next week Nomads are back at home as they face Peterborough City.
