Nomads Ladies 1s were expecting a tough game and went out hard against their opposition who had just dropped down from div 1. The first 15 minutes of the game was fairly even, with no one team dominating possession - however, St Ives managed to get a foot in the D and were awarded a short corner and smashed away their first goal - the first half finishing 1-0 up.
The Ladies regrouped for the second half, stabilising some gaps in the middle and held the first 15 minutes well, but St Ives were hungry for more and with some quickly play around the midfield and defence quickly entered the D to get a series of short corners. Despite great defensive work from the team, especially great reaction speeds from keeper Erica Hilberry, two more goals were conceded and St Ives went 3-0. Nomads didn't get their head down, and were awarded a flick in the final 10 minutes as Annie got taken out by a defender. Ellie Martin stepped up and stylishly finished a flick, getting her name onto the score sheet for a second week running. Nomads worked hard for the final few minutes to not concede more goals, with Kerry Alexander saving a shot in the final minute.
Player of the match goes to Liz Freeman who worked at an incredibly rate from the starting whistle, attacking play was great and she was involved in lots of unit play all over the pitch. She also defended brilliantly and her work rate never faltered throughout the match.
