The first league game of the season proved pleasing for the Nomads Ladies with a 3-0 win over Camb City 4s.
The first half was tough and tense, with both teams struggling to find their shape and hold onto possession. There were some opportunities to convert into goals for both sides, but both goalkeepers worked hard to keep a clean sheet to finish the first half 0-0.
Nomads came out stronger for the second half and dominated the play from the start, working better as a unit to keep possession on the ball leading to Ellie Martin slipping in the first goal past the keeper. Shortly after Sarah Warren got back into the D, taking a reverse stick strike at goal, saved by the keeper and put straight into the path of Annie Mather who finished it off with a reverse stick strike. Nomads picked up the pace and quickly returned the ball to the D where Sarah Warren took her time to move wide of her defender before smashing the ball into the backboard to get her name to the score sheet; taking the scoreline to 3-0. Team coaches Paul Matthews and Matt Voutt supporting from the sidelines were pleased to see the work in training is paying off in the games.
Player of the match went to Nomads captain, Zoe Andrews, for a great work rate with excellent attacking and defending play as wing back.
The ladies 1s head off up the road to St Ives next week.
