Nomads continued their winning streak this weekend, when they played Bourne Deeping at home.

The visitors looked hungry and pressed Nomads defence from the whistle, and slotted in an early goal after finding a way through. Nomads came straight back however, with some textbook hockey played around the back and up to the midfield – a lovely through ball from Kathy Cox onto Flip Toley saw the first goal for the home team. The visitors continued to ply the pressure however, and some strong work from Helen Paterson and Lou Patten ensured that they were kept out of the home D. Nomads 2nd goal came from a well drilled short corner routine, where Captain Liz Freeman got on the end of a deflection and scooped the ball neatly over the goalkeepers pads.

Shortly into the second half, a Bourne foot on the line prevented a certain goal, but with Toley easily beating the goalkeeper with her penalty stroke, Nomads looked unassailable. Bourne who, in spite of the large amount of midfield possession they had, could not break down the home defence and could not break through the tight press, with some superb tackling coming from Kate Westgate and Linsey Porter. Another fierce penalty corner strike from Toley then took the score to 4-1 and within minutes, another lovely piece of team work, with Maria Pylas and Bethan Davis setting up Toley to hook in the final goal.

The final score a convincing 5-1 win with Toley taking player of the match for her hat trick, and Nomads look forward to playing re-arranged fixture against St Neots next weekend.
