It was a grey, rainy, and cold day at St. Neots as the visitors donned their orange away kit. From the off Nomads were quick to create opportunities and thwart any advances from the opposition. Having studied them in two previous encounters, skip’s strategy to shield their two front strikers from their back line during free hits paid off as they seldom caused any danger. The few instances when they touched the ball, our centre backs Matt and Jez dealt with the threat expediently. This forced St. Neots to play more conventional and open up spaces, which Nomads exploited readily with our speed and width. Soon we went up in the scoreboard thanks Ollie Lepage but were unable to increase that advantage any further before the half time.
The second half was more comfortable as the opposition started to tire. Various opportunities were created by the Davies brothers down the right channel and by Tom, Toby, and Sam down the left channel. Soon enough Nomads won a few shot corners. Our expert drag flicker, Zinny Longson, was in action and it was in the third opportunity that he slotted it through the keeper’s legs. First two were well deflected by the defender near left post.
By the end of the second half the opposition had run out of juice and Nomads scored a further two goals courtesy of Gowland and Hanlon.
Man of the Match goes to Sam Russell for working hard on the park.
