Nomads 3 draw on top of the league clash

Despite the absences from Meadows, crippled from using a chainsaw, and Tuft, poached by the 2s at the last minute, the 3s secure a draw to stay at the top of the league. Credit to all those on the pitch to achieve this against a St. Ives team who fielded their strongest side yet and with subs. Today’s match was hard work and we all worked our socks off.

The first half was very competitive and it was only in a counter attack that St. Ives score both goals. Their very skilled youngsters breaking through our midfield to create an overload that punished us despite the best efforts from Davies on goal. Nothing wrong with Nomads playing, simply lack of speed to fall back to defend…. There is a reason why we do sprints at training boys.

The second half was one way traffic and Nomads levelled the game courtesy of Angus Gowland in both cases. More could have come but they were not invited to this party unfortunately. Nomads have great control of the ball in the midfield and the distribution was great. By this point St. Ives was essentially camping inside their D in an effort to keep their goal advantage. But through great patience, perseverance and skill, Nomads penetrated their defences and punished the visitors.

Man of the match goes to Sam Russell for working hard in the park and penetrating the opposition 23 in multiple occasions to create danger.
