Nomads 3s shows superb form in local Derby

A crisp and sunny winter day and a late 2pm start. Skip was quick to set camp Nomads against the sun to let the opposition take the glaring sun. Skip lost the toss and to his surprise the opposition chose to stay in the half they were in, so we had pushback and we were not facing the sun.
Earlier in the week skip took the bold decision of changing our formation to 4-3-3, from our regular 4-4-2, which meant that we had the combined firepower of Angus, Ollie, Garth, Mike, Zinny, and skip, sufficient to demolish any stronghold in the east, and that was evident in the end result.
The mid-field maintained its composure throughout the match, with the expert guidance of Tim as pivot and Zinny and skip forming the rest of the core. The ball was confidently moved through the park with quick passing and lead runs to create space. Nomads maintained >70% possession of the ball through the match and soon goal opportunities started to arrive. By half time Nomads were 2 up courtesy of Zinny and Angus. Toby had a great match too, providing good pace along the left channel.
The second half was goals galore as South players couldn’t keep up with the pace of the match. Goals arrived from multiple hands, Zinny, Angus, Mike, skip, Arthur, wait… Arthur, wasn’t he playing right back? Oh well, when you play the whole match in the opposition half the defence line is on half pitch, so why not.

Our over-zealous attack exposed a vulnerability as a South counterattack broke through our ranks and our defenders were committed at the front, allowing the opposition to score. Something to consider for future matches.
