Nomads were going into their home game against the Div1 leaders Potters Bar on a dismal run of 4 games without a win staring down at the abyss of relegation to the depths of Div2. More importantly they had been thoroughly outplayed in the reverse fixture losing 6-1. So the return of Jack Franklin after a 3 week break was probably all the home crowd was looking forward to.
However, Nomads refused to play the part of easy opposition and after the initial onslaught subsided went ahead after captain Joe Phillips found Jack Franklin who expertly redirected the ball past the goalkeeper.
Potters Bar managed to find an equaliser but Nomads continued to believe in themselves and eventually made the breakthrough after Alex Mutucumarana in his new role as an old fashioned centre forward got his 3rd goal of the season in style by sliding onto a mishit Jack Franklin shot and converting in style.
After that the opposition pressure built up more and more though and eventually led to a penalty flick which should have led to another set of points lost from winning positions.
However, Ethan Brown made himself the hero of the day with an explosive right hand stick save and thereby just about kept Nomads in the relegation fight where they play four other relegation rivals in their last 5 games needing 4 wins to stay up.
