In a game that saw 5 green cards and 5 yellow cards between the two teams Nomads weren’t able to come out on top. That it was a pretty friendly and mild mannered game tells a story of how the game was managed and well done to all for it not ending up as a 5-a-side!
After having last week called off, Nomads were well rested and started off well pressing East London and being the team generally on top. But things can slip quickly. After a mistake in the midfield, the opposition were able to mount a counter attack and convert their first chance of the game leaving Nomads questioning their tactics
Coughing the ball up from defense created another counter attack by East London, Nomads were stretched, and a strong tackle deemed by the umpire to be illegal meant that they were rewarded a short corner,. From a well worked routine, they deflected in at the right post
Nomads seemed to be deflated but picked themselves up and were able to dominate possession towards the very end of the half and won a short corner on the half time whistle but unfortunately having 10 players around the top of the D we couldn’t convert our chance
After a rousing team talk by the coach, Nomads came out in the second half fired up and ready to go with a few strong chances and hitting the post, the fact that we haven’t been able to convert our chances came back to haunt us again
From a short corner Nomads won a penalty flick midway through the half which gave us the chance to get back into the game. Martin Hamon stepped up, took on the responsibility and calmly slotted the ball past the keeper and into the back of the net
As the cards started to come out, Nomads seemed to take their foot off the gas in an increasingly frenetic last quarter. They attacked down the left hand side of the pitch with a well worked move and the ball played across the D and finished into the back of the net. East London kept pushing for more and after a shot hit Wellsy's foot in the in front of goal, a penalty flick was awarded which was converted
Nomads fought right to the final whistle getting a couple of short corners in the last 5 minutes with Moritz Sirringhaus scoring from a drag flick with a slight deflection off of one of the defenders. Unfortunately the Nomads fight for the comeback came too late so once again another frustrating loss
MoM: James Tee for being the only player able to tackle the opposition in the first half
DoD: Will Charlton and Moritz Sirringhaus for the dumb yellow cards they received
