The Men’s 1s were held to a 3-3 draw by Bury in a close game at Coldham’s. Bury were quickest out of the gate and took the lead midway through the first half via a dubious penalty stroke. It was the first time we’d trailed all season and lasted all of five minutes as we soon began creating chances of our own, and we were 2-1 up at half time. Jack grabbed both, finishing off two penalty corner routines from close range.
At the restart, we strung together what must’ve been 50-60 passes without Bury touching the ball. It didn’t lead to anything, but it was remarkably composed of us. Unfortunately, that’d be the last time we managed to consistently find our teammates as our wayward passing allowed Bury back into the game. They equalized through another penalty stroke, before Martin put us back in front via a drag flick.
Unfortunately, Bury pulled level again with a goal on the break, and neither team was able to find a winner in the closing minutes. Although a draw was probably a fair reflection of the game, we were disappointed at the final whistle to have dropped our first points of the season.
MoM: Dave - very composed in possession at the base of midfield and consistently helped break up Bury attacks
