A 7-0 win at Norwich City for the Men’s 1s in a game we dominated from start to finish. In addition to the result, it was great to put into practise the things we’ve been working on in training with Ravi and Rich: moving the ball fast, using the wide areas and the baseline, and recycling possession.
We created chances right from the very start of the game and we were two up by half time, Rich and Jack both finishing from close range. Any hope Norwich had of a comeback were put to bed by two more goals early in the second half, both from penalty corners. First, Martin and Rich played a one-two which Martin slotted in, then Rich squeezed a straight strike off the bouncy surface into the corner.
Goals five, six, and seven followed, converted by Sam, Jack, and Martin, respectively. Sam’s in particular was an excellent clinical move on the break after he won possession in our half, and exchanged a series of one touch passes with teammates on his way to the Norwich circle before scoring.
On top of the three points, the game brought our second clean sheet of the season, maintained our 100% record, and boosted our goal difference to a healthy +13.
MoM: Wellsy- found a lot of success down the right hand side, contributing to attacks and keeping Norwich at bay.
DoD: Jack - pinched what would’ve been Dave’s first Nomads goal
