3 out Three wins from three for the Men’s 1s after another close game against Dereham. We dominated the opening 20 minutes and created lots of chances, converting two. Martin scored the first, deflecting Joe’s ball into the circle into the top corner, and Sam grabbed the second, rounding the keeper after the breakdown of a short corner.
Dereham’s game plan was to absorb pressure and release their skilful forwards on the counter, and they pulled one back before half time. They continued in this fashion after half time and will probably feel they should’ve gotten something from the game after wasting a few good chances, but our back five managed to keep them at bay.
As the half went on, we regained our composure, kept possession of the ball, and forced Dereham back into their own half. Rich sealed the win with the final touch of the game, tapping in when Martin drew the keeper and played him in.
MoM: Freddie - goalline save plus solid and dependable in midfield and at full back
DoD: Martin - felt “unsafe” at being targeted by a few Dereham players, the absolute epitome of ‘he dishes it out but can’t take it!
