The Men’s 1s continued our winning start to the season with a 3-2 victory at home to Norwich Dragons, but the game should’ve been much more comfortable for us.
Martin put us ahead early on with a finish into the top right corner after beating a few Dragons players, and we doubled our lead before half time. After a one-two at a penalty corner, Rich’s shot deflected off a defender’s stick and was heading just over the bar until Freddie - making his 1s debut - knocked it down and in at the right post.
We had plenty of chances to put the game to bed in the second half, and it looked that we had when Ganja won a penalty stroke following a mazy run in the Dragons circle that ended with their keeper using the back of his stick to clear the ball off the line. Jack stepped up to roll the ball (unconvincingly) into the bottom left corner.
Towards the end of the match, we couldn’t manage to string a series of passes together, and Dragons took advantage of their extra possession to grab two quick goals in the dying minutes. Fortunately, their fight back came too late and they ran out of time to find the equalizer.
MoM: Callum - a strong performance at right back in his final Nomads appearance before uni
