EH Girls U14 T3 League: Match day 2 with Wisbech, St Ives and Sudbury 18th November

Nomads U14 Girls descended upon Coldham’s Astro en masse on Sunday – 17 of them for three 7-a-side matches. After a fair bit of discussion we had 2 separate teams (with their own team names (the sausages & eggs) and ‘routines’) to play in each match – one on the pitch and one cheerleading from the side with a complete changeover at half time. The only constant was Aramea who boldly put her hand up at Wednesday training to play in goal, and did so brilliantly all afternoon.

Nomads occupied the near pitch in the sunshine all afternoon and put in 3 brilliant performances. Firstly beating Wisbech 4-2, then a strong St Ives side 3-2 before narrowly losing to Sudbury in the final game 1-2. If the game had gone on for another 5 minutes Nomads would have scored an equalizer and probably a winner. And so ended top equal on points for the day, but narrowly second on goal difference. As we write not all the results from the parallel tournament being played at St Neots had been entered into the England Hockey website, but we will publish a league table in due course.

It is difficult to give everyone a mention as there were so many taking part and playing open free flowing hockey. But special mentions to Amelia in defence, Katie in midfield and Alice up front. Roll on January 20th when the Girls next play at St Neots!
