Very respectable 2nd place in City hosted East Masters Cup tournament

Nomads Mens 040s Masters team finally broke the long standing jinx of the orange away kit with a great performance in the first East Masters Cup hosted by City.

Two tight 1-1 draws against City and Northampton were followed by commanding wins against Royston (3-0) and Witham (2-0). Despite the better judgement of some, the squad went for a pasty break before the next game and the effect of the pastry showed in a mediocre performance against the eventual tournament winners, Broxbourne (0-2). Having finally digested the snacks, the team finished strongly against Luton (2-0) to take 2nd place in the cup.

Goals (and I'm slightly making this up) with three two for Moots, two for Felix (plus a missed flick), couple for Ganja and Mel and one for Arthur. Sorry if I got this wrong but I was standing a long way away.

Well done to everyone for making it through a long afternoon of hockey, with a number of the team having played on Saturday as well. Especially good given we had 12 in the squad and only 11 for some of the games. Great to see a Nomads Vets team out there and playing great hockey.

For the record, final table
Broxbourne 16pts
Nomads 13pts
Northampton 10pts
City 10pts
Luton 8pts
Royston 3pts
Witham 3pts

Thanks to Cambridge City HC for organising a great day.
