Despite a tremendous lash of rain during the 'warm-up', our match was played in predominantly winter sunshine. Nomads got this game by the throat and dominated this game and our short corner routine proved to be lethal.
Dan Jarvis scored a beauty drag flick with the ball whistling into the top left corner from our second short corner of the match. Our second came from another short corner routine with the ball going from the top of the D to Martin as the right slip who slipped it across the face of the goal. It came to Sam who delightfully slotted past their keeper.
Nomads defense was once again the rock of the team: Harrison stepping to the mark, Tim acting, as usual, as an excellent distributor in the middle, Seth held back a wily, skillful player with some “mighty experience” behind him!
Credit to March, they scored a very well worked goal that started out by breaking down a Nomads attack on their 25 yard line. Quickly they moved up the left hand side of the pitch. Their master move was a delicate lob over the top of Lewis who was coming out to meet the attacker. The ball bounced a yard from the goal line and their (previously mentioned) most senior player on their side was there to clonk it in. We were 2-1 up at half time.
Nomads owned the second half with some great flowing hockey to be seen. Dan Jarvis (not to be confused with Dan Stevenson!) led some searing attacks into their 25. His endeavours resulted in another goal for him – your captain can't quite recall the circumstances – dear readers, do remind me by adding comments below.
Finally, our short corner routine fired perfectly once again. Jack injected and received the ball back from the top, facing away from goal. He spun round and pushed it underneath the diving goalie for a well deserved goal. A very satisfying 4-1 victory.
