Nomads fail to put St Ives to the sword in the first half and see St Ives Thirds come back to level the score to deny them three points

Nomads visited St Ives on Saturday with scant player availability across the club – thanks to the other team captains and their players who demonstrated the Nomads spirit to make this fixture.

Nomads applied continual pressure throughout the match against an opposition that gave them lots of space and time on the ball. Tellingly there were few penalty corners awarded to either side with lots of open play in this match. This was a game where accurate passing and good interplay could have annihilated the opposition.

Nomads started well with a series of good opportunities initially presenting themselves. The tourists found the back of the net midway through the first half - thanks to a close range reverse stick strike from third team regular, Alex Seeney, outside the right post.

The second half saw the Nomads' standard of play drop to our opposition's. We were unable to execute critical passes and when we did, first or subsequent touches weren't quite good enough and our attack broke down.

St Ives scored on one fast break which (unusually) we hadn't snuffed out at the 25 yard line. A St Ives man received the ball at the top of the D and competently slotted in past Ethan coming out to meet him one on one which leveled the match.

Nomads did put the ball in the back of the net, but the umpires conferred and wisely denied the goal due to a Nomadic foot in D.

In the end, we should view this as a wasted opportunity to secure three points.... and Arthur will never, EVER forget his boots ever again!
