Nomads Two take a satisfying win in a tight match against Bourne Deeping Threes

Nomads team sheet looked strong with a careful blend of youth, experience (see story elsewhere) and blessed with the presence of some first team players who couldn't make their own game. Five minutes before the whistle, one of those Woody, declared that he'd been up until 6am after a night out. Fortunately, after 15 minutes or so, any excess fuel was burnt off and he was even seen in the second half broaching the opposition's 25 yard line!

Nomads looked in control of the first half and always threatened with good interplay making penetrating forays into the opposition's 25. Some great Nomads play at the top of the D saw a shot fired into the Bourne Deeping goal mouth which found Sam agonizingly missing a reverse stick prod into open goal – denied by the left post. Fortunately, Sam found himself in the right place and scored from firing a loose ball in the D which managed to ricochet through the keeper's pads into the back of the net.

Second half saw Bourne Deeping recover, but they weren't able to convert some of their pressure into a scoreline. Martin managed to snake thorough a number of players in the right hand corner and slotted the ball to the P spot, but no Nomad could get on the end of it.

Nomads' second goal came from some good work down the right hand side which resulted in multiple attempts fired at the Bourne goal. Martin had the first attempt which the keeper booted back towards him. Garth was behind him screaming for Martin to leave it as he was in the better position. By chance, Martin fresh aired giving Garth all he need to maintain his 100% scoring record for the Twos.

And that scoreline remained until the final whistle. On other occasions in a tight game, an opposing fast break or an unlucky deflection or a missed tackle might have resulted in a different result, but Nomads out gunned Bourne Deeping by a small and telling differences in work rate & hustle, passing, first touches and individual skills.
