Nomads come second – the telling difference being Peterborough's short corner routine

Nomads travelled to Peterborough – with a journey itself proving more interesting than usual as Rich's car suffered a flat tyre before the getting on A14, necessitating a small team building exercise at the garage on the Histon Road.

Availability this week across the whole club was very poor – Nomads Third did not have a game, otherwise there would have been no way that this fixture could have been fulfilled. Team Jarvis was out in full force: Pere Peter, Dan & Tom – fantastic stars for the future :)

With good grace, Peterborough delayed the start of the match to give the tourists appropriate time to get warmed up and acclimatised – thank you Peterborough.

Peterborough started the match brightly and spent the first 10 minutes camped in Nomads half. The pressure showed as they converted one of series of short corners. Nomads responded within a matter of minutes: Sam drove over the 25 yard line and slotted the ball to Arthur who unopposed went into the D and slotted home at the near post.

Peterborough scored another two more, before Jack added another well-deserved Nomads goal from open play by finding the backboards from near the P spot. Honourable mention to Sam who took the ball to the back line on the right hand before clattering it across the front of goal from an impossibly tight angle, but no Nomads (or 'Boro' player) could get on the end of it. Half time saw the score at 3-2.

The second half proved to a good tussle – credit to Nomads' young forward line (Jordan, Sam, Jack, Martin) to raised their intensity and harried after every ball. Peterborough scored one more and the difference between the two sides lay in short corner routines and their executions: 'Boro' scored 3 out of 4 goals from their set piece whereas Nomads only had one short corner. A quick tea preceded an (uneventful) journey home prior to the Club Christmas Dinner.

At the Christmas break, Nomads find themselves sixth in the table – with 3 points separating 5 teams.

Rest well, Nomads over the Christmas break. There will be a pick-up game on Saturday 4th January at 11am with the league restarting the following weekend.

The success of this team in the first half of the season is entirely based on the availability of players. There is a core of 6 or 7 players and then 33% availability from another dozen or so players.

Your captain wrote his letter to Santa (back sometime in early October) : PLEASE SEARCH YOUR CHRISTMAS STOCKING FOR MORE AVAILABILITY ON SATURDAYS (and less injuries too) PLEASE!!!!
