Nomads clock an impressive result - the first double digit victory for the Twos for several seasons

Nomads Second team played St Neots away - a 'local' derby given the locations of the teams in 4NW league. Returning-from-long-term-injury vice-captain, Tim, had put the team through a rigorous warm-up drill and the results were immediately apparent. Nomads crisp passing and excellent movement off the ball separated the two teams.

Our defensive four (welcome new face, Ed!) once again formed a bedrock and were so strong, they effectively provided an extra man in attack. Midfield shuffled the ball well, demonstrating good communication. Our attacking pair of Jack and Si (who returns to club duty after some weeks off) hoovered up 9 of the goals: Jack grabbed three and Simon took a double hat-trick - the benefits we shall enjoy at the end of season dinner, I'm sure!

Jack's first goal is well worth mentioning. The ball came to Jack on the left hand side of the D, and with the goal keeper approaching and the ball on his reverse side, he scooped the ball high over the keeper and everyone held their breath as it dropped at a steep angle into the goal via side netting - sweet!

However, these goals weren't a series of individual stick wizardry from our two forwards - all the goals came from well worked open play manoeuvers, with the exception one that came from a short corner routine. Our final goal was a perfect example: Woody, from inside our half, passed to Arthur to Jack to Si to find Martin on the back post to pounce to score.

Scores: 3-1 at half time, 10-1 at the final whistle - glorious victory. It has been many years since a Nomads Twos captain has been able to record a double figure result. This stretches our winning streak to five games in a row - and squeaks us into THIRD in the table on goal difference. What a change from the four losses to open the season!

The men's Firsts and Thirds also recorded success - so the winners' enclosure was jam packed on Saturday afternoon!
