Mid table Peterborough visited Coldhams Lane ground facing a strong and confident Nomads side on the back of a pair of victories. Our back four of Hodo, Barry, Paul and Rich once again represented an impregnable line. Coming out of defense, they moved the ball accuraetly around the back with confidence and accuracy.
Nomads first goal came after 15 minutes after Peterborough broke down a Nomads attack, but failed to clear the ball out from their D. The ball found Dan Jarvis in a little space in which he was able to dispatch into the goal on his first or second touch having just come off the bench, thereby maintaining his 100% strike record for the Twos. A nice start.
The second goal came from a slightly shanked Tom Wightman cross which fell perfectly to Arthur at the top of the D who (equally) slightly shanked his shot, but it found the bottom right corner – no matter, they all count!
The Twos went into the break at 2-0 having shown some good, flowing hockey and half time pep talk consisted of 'more of the same, please!'. Nomads' third goal was lovely interplay between Martin and Jack (amongst others) which found Joel on the P spot to slot home. Number four came from a long corner which came out to Tom Wightman on the 25 yards line in the middle of the pitch. Tom leathered the ball to find Dan Jarvis outside the left post who elegantly deflected it in – great eyes and perfect execution, Tom and Dan.
Jack scored Nomads final goal which came as a result of open play from the right hand side of the park. Your reporter can't recall the exact build up, but Jack was on hand on the P spot to put the final nail in the coffin.
Credit to Ethan between our own posts for making some excellent saves and gains a well-deserved clean sheet. It is interesting to note that Nomads defended 3 or 4 Peterborough short corners, but our own short corner routine was left unused.
This result, our third win on trot, means that we move up to mid-table with a big smile on our faces.
