Despite losing 7-1, Nomads had an excellent second half, making the trip to Uppingham worthwhile!

Nomads Two slogged up to Uppingham to play Rutland with only 10 men. (It should be noted that it was a tremendous achievement to get 3 side out this last weekend – thanks to all that played – some twice!). We feared the worst against a usually youthful and feisty side.

However, at push back, both sides had ten men and for the first ten minutes it took a while for both sides to work out their unanticipated opposition's formation. Rutland won the first half 5-0.

Unusually, the weather wasn't freezing cold and, by the second half, the pitch was bathed in weak, spring sunshine. The second half saw Rutland slacken and Nomads discovered their rhythm. John elegantly batted away a blistering shot. Arthur was deliberately offended in the opposition D by the last defender blatantly blocking the path to the ball, once he had been rounded the said defender. Pete stepped up to take the penalty flick and confidently and with aplomb roofed the ball into the net. Hurrah!

The final spectacle of the fixture was Harrison trying to elegantly consume a dozen (or more!) jammy dodgers before departing - fortunately your captain wasn't aware of the final result of _that_ competition!
