Youngsters shine for Nomads Twos

Exotic routing of the A14 provided some early and unanticipated challenges close to Cambridge. Thankfully Mel had practiced the route earlier in the day in order to get some milk for his morning cuppa. And we had our secret weapon in Rick, our geospatial expert, to lead with military grade precision in another car. All was safe.

0-5 scoreline didn't provide the full context of the game. Wellingborough scored two early goals which weren't indicative of the balance between the two sides. Nomads dug in and proceeded to play periods with excellent passing and team work, but not quite doing enough in the final 15m to convert. Wellingborough's third goal was a peach - a ball was zinged into the D and a Boro stick elegantly sent it high into the back of the net.

Nomads' temper frayed somewhat in the middle of the second half and number of colleagues were to be found spectating from the side line, as a result. This prevented us from sustaining our attack and pressing for a goal or two. Momentum swung in the direction of the home side sadly, resulting in two more goals, despite Nomads winning significantly more corners than the opposition.

Ben, playing his second game for the Twos, impressed once again. Despite being the youngest person on the pitch, he shouldered up and surprised the opposition with good positional play and the swiftness of his passing. Bravo!

Charlie, making his first appearance in the Twos, played with aplomb and confidence, receiving and distributing the ball well. Going forward, he showed no fear in taking on the opposition defence with great success. An impressive first performance, earning him Match of the Match. Well done!
