Cam South Twos come from behind to win 2-1 against Nomads Twos

A delayed, late start at Long Road (on Bonfire Night too!) wasn't the warm-up preparation that we needed on South's famously bouncy pitch.

The match was tightly fought contest - interestingly neither goal-keeper had many touches - credit to the defensive line of both teams. John did have to bat down an aerial ball with poise and also suffered a mighty crack on his knee due to a shot that found the perfect angle through his pads. (I hope it's better soon, John!)

Nomads' goal came in the first half. South were playing the ball around the back and Angus managed to get some stick on a pass across the face of goal to slow it down enough to scamper after it and fire back at goal. The shot rebounded back to him and he recoiled and let loose another one. Although this again was saved, the ball struck a South player's foot and a flick was awarded. Paul duly stepped up and despatched the ball to the goalie's left. First strike to Nomads.

After the turn around, Nomads knew that South would throw everything at Nomads defense - but we held strong. There was a period when the umpires flashed a flurry of cards - Gentleman Tim (even!) picked up some spectator time. Zinny picked up the ball on the right hand side in the D and whisked the ball towards the P-spot. Angus made contact, but the ball slithered passed the back post. South converted a penalty flick and then scored a second time from open play. As the clock ticked on, Nomads back four continue to defend well - Carl in particular soaking up lots of pressure.

Final result was 1-2 - Nomads played with plenty of passion, but somehow South managed to find a little more when needed.
