Our first game of the season was an odyssey to faraway Skegness. There was the obligatory stop-off at McDonalds in Spalding - Angus notably took his own sandwiches - not trusting the Mcbrunch.
In glorious sunny weather, Nomads definitely hadn't shaken out the effects of the long journey. Within 10 minutes, we were 3-0 down - all rather soft goals that we may well rue later on in the season. Nomads slowly kicked in. By half time, we had reclaimed a goal, with the ball finding Arthur in a bit of space in the D who managed to strike the backboards.
In the second half, we grabbed a second goal: an attack down the left committed the defence and the goalkeeper. A clearance fell to Arthur who flicked it goal bound. Two Alford defenders saved it, but Sugi pounced on the loose ball and shovelled it into the back of the net.
The last 5 minutes went at a furious pace, with Nomads desperate to salvage some pride and some points, but alas we ran out of time, leaving the final result at 2-3.
