The local derby at St John's College - with City chasing promotion - was always going to be an exciting game. This week was the first weekend for which numbers were tight in the Twos and Threes - the Ones were concentrating on their own promotion prospects. Derby games matches against City are always hard-fought matches - this one was no different. Indeed, Hoddo, as a rare, but welcome guest to the Twos this season, recalled encounters of yore on that turf.
The home side were soon in the driving seat with goal from an elegant short corner routine. And another to go 2-0 up. Moots pulled one back with a slightly mishit short corner strike, but the bouncing ball was difficult enough and it hit the backboards.
Nomads' second came from Zinny's pass from the left hand side to Sugi on the top of the D. He rounded one defender and then committed the goalkeeper. He took a shot on goal and the ball was stopped, but Matthew was on hand to push the ball home from a foot out.
The second half was tight - the difference between the two sides came from another well-worked City short corner routine.
In conclusion, it was a very creditable performance - with heaps of effort from everyone - your captain was saddened to only watching from the sidelines - we'd have been happy with the final score as it was at half time.
