Nomads Twos take all three points at Alford

After our traditional stop at McDonalds in Spalding, Nomads arrived in Skegness and set up shop. Our first 10 mins were a little shanky as we worked the long journey out of bodies. We soon took control of the game, with Nomads forwards causing havoc for the Alford defence.

From a searing run down the right hand side, Moots smashed the ball across a populated D. Max on the left post was the end of it to knock it home. Well deserved, Max, an excellent performance. Shortly after, Sugi made a similar move on the right hand side and hit the ball to the P-spot. Moots was tightly marked, but managed to get beautiful deflection past the Alford goalkeeper – “outrageously good” was Moots own (and justifiable!) description.

In the second half, Nomads defence remained robust and Alford only had a couple of chances, but there were patches when the usual Nomads’ quality & authority was off its usual high standard. John easily took man-of-the-match with some excellent goalkeeping and lithe saves harking back 20 or more years ago – superb - thank you!

Wattsy made an inspired sideline flick from deep in our own half to Moots on the opposition’s 25 yard line. It was tantalisingly just out of Moots’ control. Arthur had a two one-on-ones with the goalkeeper and chose to pass ineffectively rather than shoot. Nomads' third goal came from a short corner. Wattsy injected, Dave stopped and took a strike. Wattsy got the most timely of jabs to deflect the ball onto the shoulder of a defender and then on into the back of the goal.

Alford recovered a single goal from one of their only two short corners. The initial strike was saved, but unfortunately not cleared and eventually, with superior numbers in our D, Alford managed to force the ball in the back of the net.

Nice to travel so far and come away with 3 points!
