Nomads Twos lose in mid-table battle

Nomads v's St Neots was what the league table promised it to be - a tight affair with few chances. An understrength Nomads side (i.e. 11 bodies compared to the 15 the previous week!) fought hard in the first half and matched their opponents man for man, and with the exception of a couple of short corners threatened sporadically. At the other end, the defence was tight with Spence and Barry in full control and a spirited 10 minute cameo from Moots was ended with the need to protect his delicate hamstring.

The second half started where the first left off with Nomads shading possession and winning more duels than than were lost. However with the drizzle descending and under poor lights, Nomads conceded a soft goal 20 minutes in. The heads didn't go down and Nomads spent most of the last 15 minutes in St Neots half pressing hard with Matthew and Max getting half decent chances.

But the game was effectively sealed 8 minutes from the end when St Neots broke away and scored a second. The pattern of play continued and St Neots saw the game out defensively. Some neat triangular work between Rick, Reuben and Jez on the right plus good skills from Max and power from Matthew in the D ultimately were not enough to turn the game Nomads way.
