With a 10am push back in Peterborough, Nomads had to set their alarm clocks to get to the meet-up for a painful 8.30am. With club having lots of availability, Nomads Twos had a strong line up with a large squad to take on an in-form Peterborough fifth team.
In the opening minutes, neither side weren't particularly authoratative, Nomads' experienced defence easily soaked up the pressure. Then, Sugi picked up the ball wide in midfield and ran towards the top of the D, evading tackles. After a 1-2 with Rick, he passed to Angus on the edge of the D. A pass to Matthew allowed him to strike at goal. Max was on hand to slap the ball against the backboards on the rebound for his first goal for the Two - congratulations!
Minutes later, a Boro striker took a neat deflection from a ball hammered to him in the D, sending the ball whistling into the back of the net. 1-1 until half time.
In the second half, Nomads had the upper hand. Nomads' second goal came from Sugi hitting the back line and whipping the ball into a crowded penalty spot. Matthew, with his back virtually to the goal, bent low and angled a beautiful deflection goal-bound, with the ball, clipping the inside of the post on its way past - peachy!
At the other end, John made a fantastic individual save, clawing the ball back from behind to shovel the ball wide. In the final ten minutes, Boro pulled one back when one of their forwards cut inside and squeezed the ball under John diving.
Nomads had chances that, on another day, might have converted. Arthur scuffed some opportunities in the D and Wattsy and Tom both had difficult balls flying past the ends of their sticks at close range. The final result was 2-2, which put Peterborough at the top of the table for a number of hours.
