In an even game, Nomads go 3-0 up by half time and hold their nerve to finish winners AND move to joint second in the table.

Nomads entertained faraway Leadenham at Coldhams. It soon became apparent that Leadenham were a competent team - who justified their second-placed position. In the early encounters, young Tom Jarvis played a sparkling first half: time after time, he outplayed his opposite number, both defending and going forward - a pleasure to watch!

Nomads went 1-0 up when Tim passed Sam near the top of the D. He passed to Jonty near the back line on the right side. Jonty marched resolutely towards the goal and his flick beat the keeper and hit a defender's foot on the line. The ball popped up and, before the umpire could blow, the ball came down on the same defender's foot and rolled over the line. The next goal came from a Arthur's straight hit from a short corner into the bottom left corner - the first well-struck ball from a penalty corner he has hit this season.

Nomads' third came from Tim poaching the ball from Leadenham hit outside the 23m line. He strode towards the edge of the D, committed the defender and laid the ball off to Sam on the top of the D. Sam created a little space for himself and then slipped the ball under the diving keeper - beauty!

So at half time, with three shots on goal, Nomads found themselves 3-0 up against strong opposition. Ellis was unlucky not to see his name on the score sheet too, as a he got a deflection on a cross which clattered 6 inches wide. Nomads' defence stayed resolute and neutralised the Leadenham front line. One of two Leadenham's goals came from the difficulties of seeing the ball in the setting afternoon sun - your captain's poor choice of ends.

In the end, Nomads left the pitch as winners AND this result means that they stand joint second in the table - it has been a number of years since the Nomads Twos have been the promotion position!
