Nomads Twos started poorly with our heads not really into the game yet - still mesmerised by the Ones' tight victory against St Ives perhaps? Whatever the reason, Spalding started perfectly by scoring from their first attack.
Nomads set to and there was some lovely hockey played. Your captain recalls a series of textbook passing manoeuvres that took the ball from our 16 yard hit in the far back right corner, around the back, into the middle briefly before going out onto the left wing and into the opposition's D, with crisp and accurate passing play - a pleasure to watch!
Nomads recovered the deficit from a short corner routine. Rich Morgan injected, Arthur flicked to Thom running in from the right side, to deflect perfectly on the backboards. It is sweet when the routine works perfectly.
After the half time, Nomads defense held firm against the Spalding attack. Nomads generally had the dominance in the second half: Arthur fired inches wide. The best opportunity came from the left side when Tom (??) passed to Arthur who found Josh on the back line. His pass across the face of the goal was in a metre or two in front of Paul's stick and an open goal - agonisingly close.
At the final whistle, neither side made a contribution to the score line in the second half, but at 1-1 result was a fair reflection of a good game.
