Tough to write it, but a 1-0 loss for Nomads Two

It was another week in which the club selection resembled a multi-directional game of Tetris, with players declaring themselves available early in the week, but then evaporating as selection came closer to publication. As Morty was unavailable (declared early!) in desperation, Arthur was drafted back to captain the side. However, sweeping the footie pitch clear of leaves prior to his daughter’s game in the morning crocked his back and demoted him to a rarely-spotted-in-Twos-history of the travelling manager.
The match started with sustained and threatening Peterborough pressure. Nomads managed to fend away these attacks (thanks, John!). As the team started to gel, Nomads fought their way out of their own half and discover a whole other 50m of astro turf as yet unknown to them.
However, a Peterborough midfielder shimmied through a tackle or two on the 23m and cracked a ball into a crowded D. One of their attackers got the most elegant of reverse stick touches sending the ball zipping into the side netting for an unstoppable goal.
The second half saw increasing Nomadic confidence. Our back four (Rich Morgan, Spence, Barry and Felix) looked solid. The battle for midfield was being won by Nomads. Opportunities in front of goal existed for Ellis and Will E amongst others and Paul rattled the goalie’s helmet. But we couldn’t quite do it.
It was a superb performance from Nomads - the team upped their standard - and the team deserved to come back with a draw. Boro were flagging and another 10 mins may have seen a Nomads goal to equalise or even one more to win, but it wasn’t to be. Praise to the Davies boys, as the game continued, they rose to the occasion. Temoc, too, on his Twos debut showed some tremendous tackling. [Ed: can any more alliteration be squeezed into that sentence?!?] Ellis demonstrated his increasingly authority in midfield and wins his captain's MoM.
As the lights dimmed at Peterborough, it was becoming obvious that this was going to be our last competitive game for a while – and plenty of time for Mel to recover from pulling his hammy again!
