Nomads win 7-1 at Wisbech. Youngster Chris Snow scores first and wins Man of the Match.

On last game before the Christmas break, 11 Nomads visited old foes, Wisbech, who languished at the bottom of the table. The usual Nomads modus operandi is to start at an effective pace. Today, it took most of the first half to get our passing game organised.

Chris Snow, starting for the first time for the Twos slapped the ball home after Paul's shot had rebounded to him. Matthew (for once - see later) failed to get any of his stick on the ball as it fizzed goal-bound at chest height. Nomads' second came from Ellis drawing the keeper and shovelling a pass to Paul who dinked a reverse flick passed the keeper.

After the half time break, the Nomads motor kicked in. Full credit to the Nomads back four (Tom, Ed, Spnce and Felix) for authoritative control when the ball crossed into our half. Felix's aerials were particularly effective and, with a high degree of reliability, always caused trouble for Wisbech.

Matthew bagged Nomads' third by scooping the ball into the top of the net from open play around the P spot. Matthew's killer instinct was all too evident in the fourth goal, as poached ball on the line, which, given another half a second, would have given Ellis the goal from his shot.

Paul despatched the fifth from a stroke as a Wisbech defender made the sort of save on the line with his foot which his goalkeeping colleague would have been pleased with.

Matthew claimed the sixth and his hatrick by introducing a slight deflection in front of the goal keeper sending the ball to the back boards. The last and seventh goal was Paul's to complete his hatrick.

Chris had a solid performance and well-deserved Man of the Match.

Spence presented a worth entry to win DoD when he generously passed to their centre forward from a sixteen yard hit for him to score. Chris could have picked up this hotly-contested award for nearly upending a Wisbech player. Matthew could have won it for nicking Ellis' goal. But DoD was scooped by Felix who chatted to the umpire, who in her enthusiasm, dropped her cards. Helpfully, Felix picked up the green one and awarded it to himself. (For Christmas, the rest of the team have booked him in for a colour blindness test!)

So we're third in the table at the Christmas break - not the lofty position that the Twos have been familiar with at Yuletide for a good couple of seasons!

All in all, this win created an excellent precursor to the splendid Club Christmas dinner in the evening.
