Nomads win 5-1. Paul bags 4. Dale guests a GK for only the second time in years

What a start to our campaign: an exotic win on our first outing of the season. Top of the table!

Some good, flowing Nomadic play in periods of the game. We played the game in Wisbech's half - excellent pressing from their free hits from our attack and midfield contained Wisbech's opportunities.

Paul's first goal came from a shortie. His straight strike rebounded back to him from the keeper's save and he flicked it in left middle past the defender on line. Nomads' second came from an attack from the left hand side into the D. The ball fell to Paul and he despatched from 2m.

Wisbech countered with a goal. Our defence came overloaded and Dale was faced with a two on one situation with the obvious outcome. 2-1 at half time.

Paul took his third from a p-flick, after a difficult umpiring decision regarding a foot on the post. With a Rich and a Rick playing beside each other, inevitable comedy moments ensued eg "Leave it, Rick" was one that I remembered.

Nomads fourth goal was claimed by Paul. He struck the ball towards the back post to Matthew. The ball took a deflection from a stick then a foot to go into the goal. Afterwards, new fella George Silcock marched into the D, transferred the ball onto his reverse stick side and whistled a shot just over the bar and into the hedgerow - reminiscent of Tom Osbourne!!

Nomads' short corner routine worked well, bring home the final goal. Wattsy injected, it was slipped to Felix whose shot was saved. Wattsy pounced on the rebound and shot. It was repulsed to Felix, who despatched. Another short corner resulted in a foot on the line, but the Wisbech captain in goal saved well to deny Zinny.

5-1 outcome - it has been a looong time since a Nomads Twos looked imperious at the top of the table!
