Our first run-out after the Christmas break saw the Twos line up against St Neots. The match started well in Nomads' favour, but a fast break plus a goal which Nomads should prevented earlier up the pitch found us 2-0 down.
Nomads manfully dug deep and stuck to our game - these goals were against the run of play with Nomads generally holding most of the ball and the territory. Our first critical break came from a short routine that actually went wrong. Ben's injection drifted a little wide of the target, but Rich picked it up and moved left - critically dragging the number 1 and number 2 runner towards him. With a deft reverse stick pass, he found Arthur free who struck it through the goalie's legs. A critical confidence builder going into half time.
After the turn around, the intensity and passion of Nomads' play increased. From a side line hit, Tim Feith collected the ball outside the 25 yard and strode forward. Unchallenged, he entered the D and unleashed a fearsome shot to level the score - well deserved for all his hard work!
Team Jarvis put in noteworthy performances: Tom shined in the left midfield - executing all that was requested of him with efficient workmanship. Pete (Pere) put in some great challenges and was instrumental in breaking down opposition attack and feeding Nomads attack. The aforementioned gentleman broke through some tackles on the right edge of the pitch and found Arthur unmarked in the D. Arthur had plenty of time to strike the ball - dismally poorly. However the goalkeeper made a complete and utter hash of the and utterly mistimed his kick and the ball trickled over the line to take us to the final whistle in the lead.
It was a hugely satisfying team performance. To come back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 spoke of our commitment and persistence - well done, team. This victory lifts us to 4th in the league - a looong way from joint bottom in the middle of October after four games.
A momentous 24 hours at Coldhams: first Cam United draw at the Abbey and the a 3-2 victory on the astro turf. Strangely, Nomads weren't on MotD though!
