Nomads led twice, but couldn't contain a capable Bourne Deeping side. (And WHAT goal, eh?!?)

Nomads toured parts of Lincolnshire - some cars saw slightly more of Lincolnshire than others. We had a lovely tour of the 'Arthur Mellows Village College', until we met the caretaker who directed us to the pitch. Excursions to the changing rooms led us through a muddy building site - all part of the fun.

Overall the match was well balanced. As seems to be the Nomads' standard these days, we started briskly. Arthur had a one-on-one with the goal but couldn't slot through the keepers' pads. The game was Bourne Deeping had some very experienced players on their side. They shifted the ball around well and, significantly, they knew when to keep the ball - and drew our defence to commit to the player with the ball. When the ball was released, we were, on occasions caught out.

At half time, we were 1-0 down, but second half provided the real entertainment. A slight formation reorg allowed our midfield to push up further The pitch. The impact was immediate. From the left hand side, Sam innocuously the ball to Arthur just inside the D who had enough space to unleash what is best described as a 'right belter' to bury the ball up in the roof of the net - the keeper barely saw it. Most satisfying!

Five minutes later, Nomads' second came as a result of our defence breaking down a fast break in our half, converting it to our own attack. Several Nomads player came close to converting , but was Sam from a reverse stick hit who finally committed the telling blow.

Bourne Deeping scored from their excellent short corner routine. Nomads went ahead again and if memory serves your captain correctly, it was Sam that passed to Arthur. He managed slip past two defenders and Paul drew off the third one by going wide, leaving Arthur one-on-one with the goal and an easy conversion. 3-2 Nomads lead.

Bourne Deeping won a string of short corners and eventually converted to draw level. They score another one which resulted in a frantic final 10 mins as Nomads furiously worked to catch up, unfortunately to no avail. Result: 4-3 down.
