Nomads Twos enjoy a peachy 7-1 victory against faraway Alford

From the start, Nomads had plenty of pressure with balls fizzing around the D, but it took a while before the tie was broken. From a long corner, returning Nomad collected the ball on the top of the D, dragged the ball onto his reverse stick side and, in a cut 'n' paste maneuver of two weekends ago, slotted underneath the goalie from a reverse stick shot.

For the next 10 minutes or so, Nomads peppered the Alford goal with shots. We were twice denied by the woodwork: both post and crossbar. Goal two came from Arthur's fortunate poach from an Alford 16 yard hit which smacked off his stick at close range. He raced to the back line and slotted it to Paul 2 yards out who made no mistake.

After half time, Nomads went to work in the same industrious spirit. Goals three, four and five were a blur of Fitchy magic – he was to be seen charging into the D, committing defenders to lay off a pass and to be ready to receive the returning pass or rebound and convert. Beauty! (Fitchy is welcome to use the comments section to remind us of the details. We further note that Fitchy briskly departed the Brook before any jugs of beer were evidenced.)

Our defensive line continued to the engine of the side, constantly closing down attacks and beautifully recycling the ball when needed. Some unanticipated one-on-one striker vs goalie practice was on the only blot on otherwise masterful Nomads performance.

The sixth goal came from a short corner: Arthur's direct shot was saved, but Matthew, through sheer force, forced the ball through the keeper into the back of the net - well deserved. Paul closed out the Nomads scoring with his second of the game.
