4-0 victory evidenced an excellent performance gives Nomads Twos a four game winning streak.

Another glorious afternoon for hockey greeted players at Coldhams who welcomed visiting Peterborough sixth team. There are two 'Boro' teams in 4NW and their seventh team had squeaked a victory at Coldhams previously.

Nomads displayed excellent team work and great fighting spirit throughout the match: solid in defence with excellent recycling when needed and always dangerous when puncturing the opposition's half. Notable credit to returning Nomad, Dale Hoye, who rejoined Nomads Twos in goal having had a sabbatical of some 5 years. He put in some excellent saves, particularly in the first half - and can hold his head up high with a clean sheet.

Nomads only goal in the first half came from a cross to Paul Matthews at the top of the D in space who mis-hit a shot which dinked off a 'Boro' defender's arm or chest, lobbed his keeper to fall tamely behind the goal line. At the other end, 'Boro' generated more penalty corners than Nomads, but Seth, Barry, Carl and Tim plus Dale kept them out.

The second half saw more surging play, particularly when Nomads wingers played wide and hit the back lines and stretched the opposition's defence. Arthur broke some tackles on 25 yard line to find himself with space at the top of D, slotting underneath the approaching goal keeper: 100% record maintained with that new stick - nice :)

The quality of Nomads' passing and their worth ethic, particularly when tackling back was the difference between the two sides. Nomads' third goal came from a fast break which ended with mis-hit specialist, Paul, committing the keeper to lying down. The final flick went over the keeper, although post-match commentary revealed that it was intended to be shoved under him. Either way, Paul's contribution made a tremendous difference to Nomads' bite up front.

Nomads' final, most elegant and most satisfying goal resulted from excellent ball shuttling between Paul and Adam from 25 yard line into the D which found Matt on the P spot who guided home beautifully.

Peterborough 6 came to Coldhams seeking a win from a lower-placed side, but a superb team performance resulted in a victory to savour and to bolster our confidence and a continuation to our winning streak and a shock for our opponents. Comments from their captain in the pub indicated that they were surprised where we are in the table with our performance. It's all to do with player availability across the club!
